I figured I would take some time to post what I've learned.

Rules For A Healthy City:

  1. Complete the tutorial. It rewards you.

  2. Do the quests. They give you ridiculous amounts of resources.

  3. Allegiance = 100 - Tax Rate - Grievances

  4. Current Population = Population Capacity * Allegiance

  5. DON'T DO THE LEVY QUESTS! They will kill your allegiance, drive your population down, and ruin your production and economy.

  6. Put your taxes to 20% and leave them there. If you're ever short on sesterces, look for a quest you could complete.

  7. Always create jobs. Even if you have more jobs than people (unless you've filled your city). Eventually those jobs will be filled and you get tons of resources and jobs from the quest rewards.

    100 bonus jobs @ 300
    300 bonus jobs @ 500
    500 bonus jobs @ 1000
    1000 bonus jobs @ 2000

  8. Create and upgrade cottages continuously. This will raise your Population Capacity which will increase production and the amount of taxes you collect.

  9. Build one of everything 2-3 warehouses and fill the rest in with cottages. This is how my level 2 cities are laid out and obviously my level 1 cities are planned with this layout in mind:

  10. DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR RECTORATE TO LEVEL 5. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE A BIG ARMY, YOU DON'T. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE LOTS OF RESOURCES, YOU DON'T. IF YOU THINK YOU'RE READY, YOU'RE NOT.

  11. Always click on a wilderness to see who owns it before you attack. If you're not sure, send spies. It is possible to attack wildernesses that other League members have seized. This is not cool.

  12. Don't talk about Fight Club... err wait... wrong forum.

Follow these rules and you will easily hit over 10K prestige in 2-3 days with 2 very well of cities.

Other Helpful Tips and Infos:

Creating troops will temporarily decrease your population. You will be creating troops out of your population so this makes sense.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TJOR
I have 12000 jobs. I have 9944 current population. I have massive amounts of Crops. I want to lower the people gathering Crops so I can max out the people working the other Job Types. I have 3000 jobs of each type. I have 3 Job Types I want to max out.

Add up all the Jobs from the Job Types I want maxed:
3000 + 3000 + 3000= 9000

I subtract that from my Current Population to find out the amount of people I want to gather Crops:
9944 - 9000 = 944

To get the percentage:
944/3000 = 31%

Then I just go to my Rectorate and set my TJOR for Crops to 31%. This will bump up the rest of the Job Types to 100%.

They are if you need the resources and don't need to collect taxes for an hour or two. You can drop your Tax Rate to 0% from 20% and counter the allegiance drop but there's no point if you have the resources. They should definitely be done before your noob prot runs up since you don't get any grievances while still covered from the protection. I've just seen too many players completely ruin their economy with them because they were just doing quests and not paying attention, so they couldn't figure out why their population died off. Then they think they aren't making enough from taxes, so they raise the tax rate.
